Gates and Bridges
You will have seen from our homepage that gates are something of a
speciality for us.
Through long experience we know that ‘not all gates are equal’ and
neither is it always easy to know how they should be hung or even what
finished size needs to be ordered.
Getting it wrong can be inconvenient if not costly.
To make life easier for you (and us!) our experienced sales team are
trained to ask all the right
questions from the outset and if a site
visit is deemed necessary this we can also arrange with the cost be
refunded against the cost of the gate*. We can on request also quote
for gates to be installed if you elect for the ‘supply and fit’ service.
If you need an ‘off the shelf’ gate we carry a comprehensive
stock of field gates and garden gates supplied by A J Charlton of Frome.
In softwood field gates, sizes 3ft to 12ft width are always in stock
and in the popular styles of softwood garden gates, 3ft x 6ft and 3ft
x 3ft are also held in stock. Additionally, we carry popular sizes
of galvanised 7 bar farm gates and matching metal posts.
To complement this stock we also carry a large selection of gate posts,
hinges and catches, etc, including more specialised items, for example,
spring loaded gate wheels, hunting latches, etc. To protect your timber
gates we can offer a wide range of protective coatings from the more
traditional linseed oils through to advanced silicone based water repellents
and solvent based coatings.
Bespoke Gates
We are finding more customers now wanting bespoke gates; either as
direct replacement to original
designs or perhaps just to an unusual
size or pattern – either way we can help! For the complete solution
we can quote for installation as well. In the latter case this will
normally be preceded by a site visit the cost of which is refundable
against the contract price.
Our workshop can make gates in either joinery grade softwood or hardwood – Iroko
or Oak being the most popular choice in hardwood.
